Your only chiropractor in Port McNeill BC, Dr. Martin Barker, is excited to be new a member of the North Island community. Now fully established in his practice since 2019, we are offering Thursday to Saturday Chiropractic care. Phone or text anytime to book your treatment, for new and recurring patients.

Our Services

Chiropractic is a recognized therapy for many conditions. It utilizes primarily spinal manipulative therapy but will also include soft tissue therapies, electronic modalities, exercise therapy, and advice.  Chiropractic is safe and drug free.

Dr. Barker will assess your condition, provide soft tissue therapy, spinal manipulative therapy, kinesiotaping if necessary, and corrective exercises. Chiropractic treats a wide array of tissues and symptoms. Come in for an assessment, we’ll see how we can help.

Dr. Barker graduated from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic school in 2005 and has a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Victoria.  He has run a busy practice in Duncan since that time and now looks forward to being your chiropractor in Port McNeill BC!

His love for the outdoors and the peace and quiet of small towns inspired Dr. Barker to move his practice to Port McNeill. It seems like the perfect place to live! 

Dr. Barker uses a wide variety of techniques and strategies to make you better. Chiropractic techniques include Diversified, Thompson, Gonstead, Activator, and motion palpation adjusting. He also utilizes soft issue massage, Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization, exercise therapy, kineseotaping and occasional physical therapy modalities to help you get pain free and back to doing the things you need to do.

What is your training and education?

Chiropractors undergo an intense post-graduate course for 4 years followed by a very intense multi-day board exam.  Most chiropractors have undergraduate degrees.  Chiropractors are also required to maintain their education by taking continuing education.

Dr. Barker has his doctorate of chiropractic from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, a bachelor of science in Kinesiology from Malaspina University and the University of Victoria. Dr. Barker has also had his personal training accreditation.

How are chiropractic adjustments performed?

Are a type of manual therapy used to make your joints move more freely, you nerves function properly and your muscles to work as they should. 

Adjustments are tailored to the patient and the condition.

Dr. Barker tries to adjust gently whenever possible and takes great care to prepare the patients body for the adjustment.

What types of conditions do you treat?

Chiropractic treats many conditions. Some of these conditions are very surprising.  Most people first see chiropractors for back pain, neck pain or headaches.  Some would be surprised that chiropractic is a good option for colicky babies, dizziness, carpal tunnel syndrome, sport performance and general well being among many other conditions.  It does not hurt to visit your chiropractor regardless of your condition.
